Music Therapy is an established healthcare profession that uses music to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals of all ages. People with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) have difficulties with communication, behavior and/or social interaction. Music therapy uses music and its elements to enable people to communicate and to express their feelings. Music therapy works towards specific therapeutic goals and objectives. Goal areas include communicative, academic, motor, emotional, and social skills. Music is administered by a trained music therapist.
